David T. Wright
David Thomas Wright, 67, of Hanover, Maine died unexpectedly at his home on Sept. 9, 2018.
Dave was born Aug. 2, 1951 in Biddeford, Maine, son of Connie (Reed) and Dick Wright of West Boothbay Harbor.
His early childhood was spent in Boothbay Harbor, enjoying summers around the Oak Grove Hotel while living in the old Reed family home, the white house across from the cove. David cherished these early memories all of his life.
Dave was outgoing and loved people, always having a cheerful word and smile for friends, family and strangers alike.
He lived and worked in Massachusetts, where he met and married Elizabeth “Betsy” McKeown on April 16, 1982. Increasing disability forced him into an early retirement. Dave returned to his beloved state of Maine in 2013 and was very happy to be home in spite of his serious mobility problems. He moved to Hanover to be near his brother Chandler and elderly mother.
David’s Christian faith was very strong and he never stopped witnessing for the Lord, even though it was difficult and finally impossible to attend church services. Now he has really gone home to be with Jesus.
Dave was a generous man, helping others whenever possible. He cared deeply about his family and friends. His death leaves a void in our their lives that can never be filled.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth (McKeown) Wright; son, Jonathan of Boothbay Harbor; mother, Constance of Boothbay Harbor; brothers, Chandler of Boothbay Harbor and Hanover and Kenneth of Gilsum, New Hampshire; as well as eight nephews and two nieces.
He was predeceased by his father, J. Richard “Dick” Wright, an older brother, Stephen Wright, and a niece, Lee Wright.
There will be a graveside service at Oceanview Cemetery in Boothbay on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m. Flowers can be sent to the Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, ME 04537.
