Joan F. Curtis
Joan Francis Curtis, 69, passed away Oct. 17, 2018 at her home after a long brave battle with multiple illnesses.
Joan was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Sept. 22, 1949, where she loved to be with her friends and working at the diner, The White Coffee Pot. It was at this diner that she met her husband, Gregory Alan Curtis from Wiscasset, Maine. The two were married for 50 years and have three amazing children: Christopher Hartman Curtis I, Michael Matthew Curtis and Lorraine Marie Curtis, who will all miss her dearly.
Joan spent the last 50 years living in Wiscasset, where she worked at multiple places and owned her own restaurant. Her main priority though, was to be a great mother. She thoroughly enjoyed being a mother: attending her children’s athletic events, hosting birthday parties and other gatherings and just watching her children grow up to be excellent members of society. In the end she was an extremely proud mother. Joan had a few hobbies which included travel, collecting collectables, eating real strawberry shortcake, patronizing Goodwill and Salvation Army and cuddling with her furbabies: Molly and Twinkie.
Joan is survived by her husband Greg; sons and their wives, Michael and Kimberly, Christopher and Valery; daughter Lorraine; sister Kathleen Cole of Florida and her family; as well as seven loving grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Joan was predeceased by her mother Mary Margaret O’Neill Evans, her father James Hartman Graves, and stepfather John Evans.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Wiscasset Community Center. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Wiscasset Community Center.
Besides her family, Joan loved her animals. She believed in rescuing through local shelters and would save all the animals in the world if she could. Please, in lieu of flowers, donate and adopt to/from your local shelter.
