Unplugged blazing Celtic music Jan. 18
Richard Wood and Gordon Belsher will be presenting their blazing Prince Edward Island Celtic in the intimate annex of the famous Chocolate Church Art Center (CCAC) Friday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
For more than two decades, Richard Wood, an award-winning fiddler from Prince Edward Island, has impressed audiences with his talent, energy, and enthusiasm all across Canada, as well as in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Australia. Highlights include TV guest appearances with Shania Twain on “David Letterman”and “Good Morning America,” Carnegie Hall with Irish legends The Chieftains; Wood has been a featured performer on CBC’s Canada Dayon Parliament Hill, Rita MacNeil and Friends, and with Jean Butler of Riverdance on “Celtic Electric.” He proudly entertained Canada’s armed forces in Bosnia and twice in Afghanistan. Wood has five previous CD recordings and has won three Canadian East Coast Music Awards. MacLean’s Magazine named him one of the Top 100 Canadians to watch in the 21st Century. According to Timeout London, “Richard Wood has the fire of a rock god and all of the talent and skill of a master musician.”
Gordon Belsher can be counted on for a lively and engaging stage show filled with singable tunes and his pure joy of entertaining. Whether playing before large festival crowds, in the courts of royalty or in intimate folk club settings, Belsher’s engaging personality, charming voice, and versatility on a variety of instruments are a recipe for a memorable evening. The strains of music and laughter remain with his audiences long after the concert has ended.
