Heartwood Theater welcomes Beth Preston
Heartwood Theater Company is pleased to welcome Beth Preston on board, offering professional vocal lessons, following her retirement from Lincoln Academy.
Beginning in October, Preston will be teaching at Heartwood’s office and studio, at 18 Biscay Rd. in Damariscotta, as part of a year-long revitalization of the building and programming to include vocal, acting and movement training for youths and adults.
Heartwood Artistic Director Griff Braley and Preston go way back, having directed musicals together for the past 20 years, beginning with “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Chocolate Church in 1999.
“Beth has been an integral part of Heartwood’s successful musicals for the past 16 years,” said Braley, “while providing individual and group training for students and adults on stage. I have the highest regard for her expertise as a vocal instructor and for the warm, professional way she manages students, as they undertake challenging musical roles and develop their skills and confidence. Beth will continue to be an asset not only to this community, but to our programming, and we’re delighted to bring her on board in this new capacity.”
Preston’s lessons will include private and group lessons for youths and adults, in four different sessions: fall: Oct. 1 through Nov. 22; winter: Jan 7 through Feb. 28; spring: March 10 through May 1; summer: June 22 through Aug. 14. For full details on dates, rates and times, please visit Heartwood’s website, www.heartwoodtheater.org. Questions may be directed to info@heartwoodtheater.org or 563-1373.
Regarding Heartwood’s new season, Braley concludes, “In this new 17th season, we'll be announcing changes to our mission and programming, as we continue to provide quality theater performance and education experiences. In the meantime, we welcome Beth and all the great qualities she brings to the studio.”
