Skidompha Book Shop news
The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta, which is normally closed on Sundays, has announced that it will be open on Sundays during the holidays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays from Dec. 1 - 29.
Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, said, “Some of our customers like to shop on Sundays, and now we can offer them that convenience, thanks to a generous volunteer shopkeeper who offered to spend these Sundays at the shop.
“It’s a peaceful place to relax, sit by the fireplace, enjoy the view, and shop at a leisurely pace for gifts for book-lovers,” she said, adding that the day after Thanksgiving, shop volunteers will set up its extensive collection of holiday and seasonal books.
The book shop, a major fundraiser for the Skidompha Public Library, is located on the river at 17 Backstreet Landing. It is run entirely by volunteers, and all books, movies, CDs, and puzzles are donated by community members. Donations are accepted whenever the shop is open.
