Dear Editor:

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to John O’Connell now that he is coming to the end of his tenure as Wiscasset’s town manager.

He has consistently held the line against irresponsible spending by applying the time-proven “discipline” of “common sense thrift.”

This has not been easy in a town that wants to drive a limo on a pickup truck budget, but he managed things in a clear and consistent manner.

We sincerely hope the new man will continue the outstanding example set by Mr. O’Connell.

We, and many others in this town, will miss him.
