Dear Editor:

What’s up with all these hand painted campaign signs that are popping up like wildflowers around here? I first saw them a couple of years ago around Whitefield, and they made me think: this person has real grass roots support; this person has people that believe in her enough to take the time to paint a sign for her campaign; this candidate is not one to spend money if there’s a way to do something without it; there’s something different about this person who’s running for office.

“Talk is cheap”, some say, and some say more than they actually do. It’s been said that “Actions speak louder than words.” These hand painted signs tell me that this candidate actually does have the support and confidence behind her that other candidates can only hope for. And that gets my attention.

Two years ago the signs were for Chloe Maxmin for Representative of District 88. I don’t live in District 88, so I didn’t vote for her, but enough other people did to get her into the State House in 2018. Now I’m seeing those signs again. This time Chloe Maxmin is running for Maine Senate.

I can vote for Chloe Maxmin this November because I live in District 13, which covers Alna, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Edgecomb, Hibberts Gore, Jefferson, Louds Island, Monhegan, Newcastle, Nobleboro, Somerville, South Bristol, Southport, Waldoboro, Washington, Westport Island, Whitefield, Windsor, and Wiscasset. Between now and November I’m going to do some research and consider voting for Chloe Maxmin for State Senate because she is obviously an exceptional candidate.
