Morris Farm plant sale
Spring has arrived at last, and gardeners like Wiscasset’s Linda Pope are thinning out their perennials. Linda and a number of other local gardeners will pot their extra plants this week and bring them to Morris Farm for its plant sale, which will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 8:30 to noon.
Locally grown perennials and heirloom tomatoes are the focus of the annual sale, which benefits the farm’s educational programs. Among this year’s offerings are the offspring of a large number of dahlia tubers donated to last year’s sale by Master Gardener Paul Fenton, as well as oriental poppies, phlox, columbine, a variety of named day lilies, and 16 types of heirloom tomatoes.
Gardening experts will be on hand to answer questions. Baked goods will also be sold in the meeting room adjacent to barn.
The Morris Farm is a nonprofit educational farm. It is open to the public seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. It is home to Alan-Dee Dairy, the Margaret Ellis Community Gardens, the Wiscasset Primary School Garden, and a University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Demonstration Garden.
