New county planner joins LCRPC
Emily Rabbe has recently joined Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission as county planner. Emily brings several years of experience as an environmental and land use planner specializing in project planning and development in the East End of Long Island, NY. Her B.S. degree is in regional planning and development with a minor in GIS from Westfield State University in Massachusetts.
Her major priorities with the LCRPC will be land use, coastal resilience, and transportation. She’s looking forward to working with towns, the county, local businesses, and residents on current and long-range planning needs. In-person or virtually, she’ll be making plans to meet with town officials over the next couple of months.
Emily started at the LCRPC virtually in mid-September and arrived at the LCRPC office in-person on Oct. 5. So far she’s attended two LCRPC Strategic Planning meetings and various virtual workshops held by MaineDOT, MMA, DACF, and NNECAPA; and has begun getting familiar with planning topics specific to Lincoln County.
Emily and her husband, Andrew, had a five-year plan to move to Maine, which was accelerated due to COVID-19. Andrew was offered a position with CMP and Emily found our job posting. Emily feels the variety of planning work makes the planner position very appealing and the work will be personally fulfilling. She is very interested in climate change, finding ways to live sustainably, and finding solutions, big or small, that work for each community.
Emily and Andrew have a 2½ year old son, Henry, and Henry’s grandparents live in Bath. They are looking forward to enjoying all Maine offers, including kayaking, hiking, the variety of seasons, and the beauty of the land.
