Half-price sale on gardening books at Skidompha Book Shop
Gardeners often cheer themselves during the winter months by planning next year’s gardens. The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta can help. All books in its extensive gardening collection are on sale at half price, from now through Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Books are displayed on the island in the shop’s middle room, as well as in its regular gardening section.
According to Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, “Many of our volunteers and many of our donors are enthusiastic gardeners, so we have a huge collection of gardening books that we’re eager to share with customers. We have more than we can display, so as we sell books, we’ll replace them with others that are in storage.”
The book shop, a major fundraiser for Skidompha Public Library, is staffed entirely by volunteers. All items are donated.
The shop is located at 17 Backstreet Landing, Damariscotta, open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with safety protocols in place to protect against the spread of the coronavirus. Donations are accepted between 8 and 10 a.m. when volunteer sorters are there to process them.
