Thanks from the Opera House
Dear Editor:
It is Thanksgiving, and there is much to be thankful for even during this tumultuous year. For the kind words, the steady arrival of notes of encouragement, the appreciative patrons, the joyful musicians, the respect everyone has shown for each other during these trying times, and for the financial generosity of so many, the staff and volunteers at the Opera House are profoundly grateful. Thank you to all in the Boothbay community and beyond for helping to make the 2020 season one to remember for its many moments of greatness.
While we look forward to celebrating the upcoming holiday season with year-end concerts and events, including the annual Gingerbread Spectacular, we also really look forward to bringing the Opera House back to life in 2021. Since starting up with small-audience concerts this past July, we have had the windows wide open during performances. With the arrival of a Maine winter, we know that the open windows are no longer practical and as such the House will have no performances during January and February.
As soon as it is warm enough to open the windows again, we will start up in some form and as soon as it is safe to gather large crowds, the stage will once again be filled with national touring artists. Thank you for all of your support.
