CMP transmission line moves on to public hearing
Central Maine Power was back in front of the Wiscasset Planning Board Monday night seeking a vote on the completeness of the company’s site plan application for a transmission line. Since the last meeting, several members of the board attended a site walk to see several areas along the transmission line that were of concern to the board. Member Al Cohen reported back that “(CMP is) well within their boundaries. The one area that we had concerns of it being too close to the house or the water areas is not a problem. To me everything looked fine.”
The final piece of the application outstanding was whether or not the board would waive the requirement for a more recent survey of the area. Chair Karl Olson said he felt as though the waiver was appropriate and all agreed.
During the discussion before the vote on the application, resident Marty Fox presented a list of five concerns about the project, most of them environmental and relating to the wetlands. The board concluded that as the vote was just to find the application complete, not to approve the project, those questions would be more appropriate during the public hearing phase and said Fox should return then.
The application was found complete and a public hearing will happen at the next board meeting, set for 7 p.m. July 12.
