Ocean Point Inn & Resort is pleased to exhibit and promote the works of local artists and sculptors who share their unique interpretations of the natural beauty that is present here in the Boothbay Region. Ocean Point Inn & Resort is part of the First Friday Art Walk Series.  Currently on exhibit are the works of Corinne McIntyre, Irene Plummer, William Royall, John and Lynne Seitzer, and Tony van Hasselt through Oct. 11.

Irene Plummer is the featured artist. She is a native of Damariscotta now living in East Boothbay. Plummer graduated with a BFA in painting from Maine College of Art. She lived in the Caribbean for many years and exhibited in galleries in Grenada, Tortola, and Dominica. Plummer has shown her work in many Maine galleries including O’Farrells in Brunswick, Round Top Center for the Arts, Firehouse Gallery, Gallery 170, Stable Gallery, and River Arts. Her work ranges from abstract to representational, currently with an emphasis on garden imagery.

“In 2020 I started a series of paintings after a five-year hiatus from creative endeavors,” Plummer said. “I started in my garden because in “the year of Covid” it was gorgeous and I didn’t want to be anywhere else. I found so much inspiration in that 200-square-foot space. There’s a mystery and generosity in the beauty of plants; something eternal, but also ephemeral. These are the things I’d like to convey.”

Corinne McIntyre (www.corinnemcintyre.com) - Corinne lives at Ocean Point in East Boothbay. A professional plein air and studio painter, she is happiest painting by the sea. McIntyre originally studied and painted in the classical manner; then for many years painted abstracts and semi-abstracts of her trips to Greece, Italy, Spain, and France where she enjoyed the major museums of each country. McIntyre is a founding member of the Plein Air Painters of Maine and an associate member of the Oil Painters of America; The American Impressionist Society; American Society of Marine Artists; River Arts, Damariscotta; and the Boothbay Region Art Foundation.

Tony van Hasselt, A.W.S. - (https://vanhasseltworkshops.com; https://tony-van-hasselt.pixels.com) – A native of The Netherlands, Tony van Hasselt, A.W.S. paints plein air in watercolor. Living in Maine, its coastline offers an infinite source of inspiration and subject material, while teaching assignments and travels give him the opportunity to explore and paint other exciting areas of the globe. Van Hasselt's paintings and articles have been featured in major art magazines and instruction books. Gallery representation includes Amelia Island, Florida; St. Simons Island, Georgia; Charleston, South Carolina; Southport, North Carolina, and several galleries in Maine, including Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor.

William Royall (http://williamroyallsculpture.com; http://mainemillstones.com/ ) – Based on Southport Island, Bill Royall has worked in stone for over 40 years, originally inspired by the unusual rock formations of the Western Rockies. He enjoys making landscape sculptures that are essentially geologic. Royall also has a millstone business and produces authentic, hand-carved granite millstones for historic gristmill restorations, and for use in his home gardens.

Lynne and John Seitzer (www.joytothewind.com) – Lynne and John continue to paint and enjoy the creative process and beauty of Maine. Their two dimensional works of art are multidimensional influences of joy, color, vibration and light, offered in a manner to awaken both your cellular memory and the playful child within. They find inspiration at home in Boothbay Harbor, and their travels across Maine to the Southwest, and throughout Europe. John and Lynne also traveled to South Africa before illustrating Susan Schadler’s children’s book, “Come Walk in the Fynbos With Me,” published in 2018. The Seitzers continue to inspire us to ‘see’ differently.
