Wiscasset lights tree Saturday, Dec. 4
Be at the Wiscasset common starting at 4 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 4 for Wiscasset’s annual tree lighting. Parks and Recreation’s recreation programmer, Chelsea Taylor, said in a phone interview Tuesday morning, the town has restrung the tree’s lights, so it will look refreshed and she is excited to see the tree lit again like the town’s other holiday lights already are.
The department will probably have a table outdoors with cocoa and treats, Taylor said.
Wiscasset chorus students plan to perform on the steps of First Congregational Church, Wiscasset Elementary School music teacher Carole Drury said in an email Monday. Drury said Jeff Grosser is emceeing the event as in years past.
The chorus will rehearse with face masks and distancing inside the church and then masks will be optional outside, Drury said. As for the crowd that gathers on the common below, Taylor said the department just asks people to be respectful of one another’s comfort levels.
