Selectmen re-appoint Murray chairman
Edgecomb selectmen re-appointed Dawn Murray board chairman May 31. Murray was elected three years ago in a special election to fill Jack Sarmanian’s unexpired term. In her second year, Selectmen Mike Smith and Ted Hugger appointed her chairman. “She’s done a fine job, and we decided Dawn is really the best person to fill the role,” Hugger said.
In other action, selectmen received a Maine Department of Transportation letter informing them about the installation of a U.S. Route 1 rumble strip and painting from Donald E. Davey Bridge in Wiscasset to Route 27. The letter provided no further details. “All we know is it will take place sometime this summer,” Murray said.
Town officials also received a tort letter in reference to a resident’s vehicle being damaged by a fallen branch. Murray reported the resident claimed the tree was on town-owned property on Cross Road. “We don’t own property there, it’s only an easement. So I really don’t know what this is all about,” she said.
Selectmen meet next at 6 p.m. Monday, June 13 in the town hall.
