Cheers & Jeers
Cheers & Jeers is a feature I remember from the days of reading TV Guide. TV Guide, for those born after the advent of cable TV and the internet, is a small, bi-weekly magazine which lists upcoming TV programs, contains features on shows, actors and actresses, a TV crossword puzzle and a Cheers & Jeers section.
Looking over the recent local news, I offer here a few of my cheers and jeers.
Cheers
~ To Adam Smart, who recently retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after leading the local USCG station for the past four years and who is sticking around to raise his family here. He has been a great volunteer for several organizations.
~ To another successful Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Regatta and Shipyard Cup Classics Challenge event. It takes a lot of organizing and good weather and the BHYC received both.
~ To the Building Exploratory Committee for their many months’ commitment to the Community School District’s campus development project. They are getting closer to a community vote and have worked hard to get information to the voters – including tours, with the next one schedule for Aug. 10 at 5:15 p.m.
Jeers
~ To the eminent closing of St. Andrews Village’s Gregory Wing and Zimmerli Pavilion. We hope that LincolnHealth President Cindy Wade and others who make decisions at LincolnHealth stay true to their words … “We remain committed to the Boothbay region and we will use the space to meet the healthcare needs of the community.”
Have a great week!
