Woolwich hires new CEO team
Chris Wilcoxson and Kevin Bachman are now handling the code enforcement duties for Woolwich. The select board announced their hiring following a special meeting Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 30.
Wilcoxson will serve as CEO taking on duties that include issuing building and plumbing permits, carrying out site inspections, and helping the planning board. He lives in Georgetown where he serves as the part-time CEO and is a lieutenant with Georgetown Fire & Rescue. He is also the part-time CEO for Arrowsic. Wilcoxson is pastor and a member of Life Source Ministries on New Meadows Road in West Bath. He also does concrete and masonry work.
Bachman will serve as Woolwich’s backup CEO, and also the E-911 officer which means he will assume responsibility for issuing street addresses for new residences. He owns and operates Bachman Construction LLC which specializes in new home construction and renovations. He lives in Arrowsic where he serves on the town’s roads committee.
“We conducted the final interviews (Nov. 30) and after coming out of executive session, voted 4-0 to offer them the positions and they both accepted,” said Jason Shaw, select board vice chairman. Selectman Allen Greene was absent. Shaw added, Wilcoxson will be working part-time, while Bachman’s appointment is a stipend job . Both can be reached to arrange an appointment by contacting the town office.
“With the way the job market is I think we were pretty fortunate to find these two and very pleased they accepted our offer,” continued Shaw who was at the town office Dec. 1 with Wilcoxson and Bachman.
“I think we hit a home run in hiring them,” commented Chairman David King Sr. “I give Jason all the credit. He found them and encouraged them to apply. We were very impressed with their qualifications.” King said Wilcoxson is fully certified and will start work immediately. “He’s very knowledgeable and well educated.” King said Bachman will start training to become the E-911 officer. “Eventually, he’ll have all the other credentials he needs to fill in as code enforcement officer,” added King.
The town recently began advertising the jobs, after interim CEO Tom McKenzie of Alna resigned to accept another job.
