WES students learn, practice ecology
Several fourth and fifth grade students at Wiscasset Elementary School have been meeting after school on Monday afternoons as part of a brand new Ecology Club. The club has two goals. The first is to learn more about the natural world shared between the students, plants and animals. Each week the students have a quick lesson often taught by a story, and then play a game to deepen understanding of the lesson.
The second goal of Ecology Club is to find ways to show care to the environment. Currently, the Ecology Club students are starting up a paper recycling project throughout the school. The students are encouraging one another to use both sides of a paper to reduce waste. They have also created collection boxes to place around the school so everyone has easy access to recycle paper.
This group of budding environmentalists is ready to learn and make a positive impact on the world around them.
