Community Writes at the Merry Barn
“Community Writes with Kelsy could not have come at a better time for me. I needed playful, trustworthy, skilled and encouraging support to move me and my writing up and out onto paper. Thank you, Kelsy. It worked.” -Dulcie W.
Community Writes returns to the Merry Barn for the first Tuesday of every month, beginning March 7. Each month we'll explore a theme based on our present season, while mining the richness and depth of our past memories. Using our own experiences as entry points, creative memoir prompts, and embodiment exercises, we’ll allow curiosity and a wide mind to guide our exploration. These gatherings are a means to begin telling a story, or collection of stories, that only we can tell.
Our March Community Writes theme is transitions. We’ll explore transition moments in nature and in our lives. What is currently evolving in us, just under the surface? What things are growing, gathering energy and close to bloom? What is composting, integrating, and alchemizing? Describe a spring landscape; what is moving, what is still? What is about to shift? Together we’ll settle into an embodiment exercise, write into prompts, share our voice, and play in the creative process. These writes are for everyone, not only writers. We write for process instead of product, for exploration and empathy, to see the world with new eyes, and to know what is deeply true for us. Hope to see you there!
