Stover recognized as an Outstanding Woman of 2023
Rep. Holly Stover, D-Boothbay, was recognized this week as one of 20 Outstanding Women in 2023 for her work as the director of the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council and with Lincoln County Dental, a low-income dental program.
Coast 93.1 and Hannaford Supermarkets offer this recognition to women from around Maine who go above and beyond to improve their communities.
“I am honored to receive this recognition,” said Stover. “I am looking forward to connecting with the 19 other women who will be honored this week. Their incredible work is reflected in the improved health, education and welfare of communities throughout Maine.”
Stover embodies commitment to community. She began her career in the nonprofit sector, focusing on at-risk youth and overseeing residential programs and was a co-founder of a youth homeless shelter. She went on to join the Maine Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services and the Department of Health and Human Services, working in program and policy development and statewide partnerships with nonprofit agencies.
Stover is continuing this work with several bills this session focused on ensuring access to affordable and comprehensive mental and behavioral health care, including LD 816, An Act to Provide Integrated Behavioral Health Services to Sexual Violence Survivors.
Stover is serving her third term in the Maine House and represents Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, South Bristol, Southport and Westport Island. She is the House chair of the Legislature’s State and Local Government Committee and serves as a member of the Joint Select Committee on Housing.
