May Community Writes: Celebration!
We are just over a week away from another evening of Community Writes. This month we’ll explore the theme of Celebration!
The grass is greening, the flowers are blooming, and the peepers are peeping. Everything seems to be returning with fervor. Spring is a time where life emerges from deep winter, and we are at a moment ripe for noticing all the things that begin to reappear. In these notices we may feel ourselves lifted, lightened, ready to celebrate.
In this month's exploration of Celebration, Tuesday, May 2, 5:30-7:30 p.m., we’ll examine what in our life we can celebrate! We’ll reimagine the act of celebrating by slowing down time and looking at the small moments that may pass by unnoticed. We’ll focus on the budding tendrils in our lives, everyday celebrations of loved ones, or a moment of beauty in our own existence. Let us reimagine a landmark moment in our days, (a graduation, a birth, the first time making sourdough) and describe the scene. It may be quiet, ruckus, joyful, exuberant, hesitant, or heart filled. Do you remember a time you circled the May pole, or celebrated the equinox? What if you designed your own spring holiday around the reemergence of luna moths, or the May full moon calling up horseshoe crabs en masse?
Together we’ll settle into an embodiment exercise, write into prompts, share our voice, and play in the creative process. We’ll write for process instead of product, for exploration and empathy, to see the world with new eyes, and to know what is deeply true for us. We’ll allow curiosity and a wide mind to guide our exploration. These gatherings are a means to begin telling a story, or collection of stories, that only we can tell. Join us!
There’s a sliding scale for Community Writes: Sliding scale $15 to $25. Save the June date: Tuesday, June 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
