Veggies to Table and The Contented Sole: Helping to end hunger
The Contented Sole, a local seafood restaurant with panoramic ocean views and outdoor dining directly on historic Pemaquid Harbor, is sponsoring a summer fundraiser for Veggies to Table. The owners of The Contented Sole will match donations made from diners to Veggies to Table up to a total of $2,500 this summer, starting now and continuing through Labor Day.
And on July 23 and Aug. 30, Veggies to Table will be providing flowers for the tables, showcasing the beautiful blooms they grow on their farm in Newcastle to donate to community members needing a bit of “flower joy.” From dahlias, sunflowers and zinnias, to strawflowers, bachelor’s buttons and asters the tables will be filled with flower joy.
Erica Berman, executive director of Veggies to Table, says she is “enormously grateful for the support of The Contented Sole, both financially and in raising awareness of poverty in our community. This will help us feed even more of the hungry people who seldom—if ever—have access to the kind of fresh produce we provide. We’re deeply honored to partner with Beth Polhemus and Warren Busteed in our mission to provide universal access to nutritious and culturally appropriate food for everyone.”
