Afterschool Coordinator-Part Time

We are looking for Afterschool Coordinators at our after school locations in Rockport, Rockland, Thomaston, Lincolnville and Owls Head. The hours are Monday-Friday 2:00-5:30pm with weekends off. Position hours and days follow the school calendar.

With guidance from the Sports, Camping & Afterschool Director, the Afterschool Coordinator develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA afterschool programming that focuses on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.

$20/hour plus $200 monthly stipend

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Works daily in the afterschool program at the designated program site.
Leads staff at the program site to ensure safety and high quality programming, which includes daily physical activity and a healthy snack each day.
Coordinate afterschool staff schedules for the site, plan monthly curriculum which should include daily STEM or art enrichment activities. A STEM activity should be planned at least two per week.
Manage all communication with parents, including a weekly parent email or newsletter. A STEM activity should be planned at least two per week.
Ensure roster for the program is up to date and accurate daily attendance sheets are kept.
Ensure incident and occurrence forms are filled out and consistently signed by parents.
Ensure late slips are given to parents that are late more than once.
Ensure all Afterschool sites consistently meet all necessary state licensing requirements.
Assures compliance with YMCA, and DHHS regulations as they relate to childcare. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
Trains, schedules and directs part-time afterschool staff and volunteers as needed.
Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
Manage program to meet the budget.
Participate in monthly staff meetings and relevant training as required by the YMCA, DHHS.
Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 21 years of age.
High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
Previous experience working with children in an afterschool or school setting preferred.
Completion of CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training, we provide.
Demonstrated level of maturity to handle the responsibilities involved in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for all participants.
Ability to evaluate and monitor afterschool programs, solve problems and make sound judgments/decisions.

$200 monthly stipend, paid time off and a single membership to our Rockland Harbor and Penobscot Bay YMCA facilities.
