Kenneth Grant Jr.
Kenneth “Kennie” Grant, 72, of Wiscasset died Monday, Oct. 9 due to complications from diabetes.
Born June 15, 1951, he was the son of Kenneth and Marlene Grant of Trevett.
Kennie grew up in Boothbay and graduated from Boothbay Region High School.
He joined the Marine Corps in August 1970 and served until 1973. He then reenlisted from December 1976 to 1979.
He was married in August 1975 to Margret Mclean. They had a daughter, Shanna, who was born and raised in Wiscasset. Shanna and her family now reside in South Carolina. Kennie’s wife Margret died in September 2018.
Kennie drove tractor trailer trucks for several years all over the country. He was an avid race car fan. NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt was his favorite driver. Shanna said he loved NASCAR, Harleys, Corvettes, and cowboy boots.
He was definitely a people person, being very sociable. He had a very kind and caring heart, willing to help anyone who needed help.
He loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his daughter Shanna, her husband Matt and their three children, Jackson, Nadia and Brooklyn; brother Ricky Grant and his wife Sharon of Boothbay Harbor; and sister Londa Grant Dunbar of Boothbay Harbor.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10 at the Ocean View Cemetery in Boothbay.
