Three things
Another Monday holiday! It kind of slows up our operation when the newspaper goes to press on Tuesday afternoons. Reporters deserve a day off and I took half a day off. Also, there were still some website upgrading problems mixed in between on Monday and we had to wait while our server rebooted – following Saturday’s power outage. Our stalwart production person, Steve Edwards, made an effort to get Pen Bay Pilot’s WAVE supplement sent to the printer on Thursday (he had to return on Saturday to resend it because of some glitch), and he worked on Monday as well to get a jump on the weekly print product since he hadn’t had time to work on it because of finishing up the WAVE … thanks Steve.

My wife calls it the “Biggest Loser” game. When the lowly Patriots and Jaguars meet in London on Sunday, Oct. 20, both teams will be seeking their second win of the season. I thought Drake Maye did a good job in his first start at quarterback Oct. 13. The Patriots’ defense had a hard time containing Houston’s receivers and the 20-point loss was another wasted three hours of TV viewing. Two of my brothers, as am I, are quite frustrated with what we’ve seen so far from the Patriots this season. They send me texts during the game and it is fun to see what they write next – penalties, bad play calling, etc.

Congratulations to Capt. Bill Campbell – see Robert Mitchell’s column this week. Fifty years of working on the local waters as an excursion boat mate and captain! We’re sure he has many tales to tell about what he’s seen, heard and experienced over the years.
