Boothbay Region Housing Trust homes ready to occupy
The Boothbay Region Housing Trust (BRHT) is excited to announce our homes at Alexander Way are ready for occupancy, and BRHT is still accepting applications. Interested applicants can find application details on boothbayregionhousingtrust.com or email us at boothbayregionhousingtrust@gmail.com. Our public open house is scheduled for Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 pm. Each home offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen with appliances, and an attached garage, all priced at $287,000. These homes are income- and deed-restricted, requiring applicants to meet Lincoln County’s 2022 median income guidelines.
All applicants are required to take the Homeownership Class. This class offers a $5,000 credit toward closing costs for applicants. Additionally, a $10,000 grant is available for those qualifying for the First-Generation Homeownership program. All applicants are required to contribute at least 1% of the purchase price from their own funds.
Debrah Yale, president of the BRHT, emphasizes the importance of these homes to local families, including those with school-age children, who are often restricted to seasonal rentals that cannot meet their needs. Many families in our community face challenges in securing stable housing and are often forced to relocate every six months. These people work, volunteer, and worship here, and their commitment to the community is unwavering.
BRHT is deeply grateful for the generous contributions from local businesses and early supporters who understand the value of keeping Boothbay Harbor a year-round community. The outpouring of support for affordable housing underscores our community's commitment to helping families establish permanent roots. With your help, we can provide a place to call home for many deserving families. Thank you for helping us keep the lights on in Boothbay Harbor.
