Shopping and more at Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest Dec. 6-8
Holiday gift shopping is a pleasurable experience during Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest weekend in the Village, from Dec. 6 through Dec. 8. A fine collection of unique shops offers a vast array of gift possibilities and the pop-up Holiday Gift Shop, in the historic Nickels-Sortwell House barn, is chock full of one-of-a-kind artisan-made items for sale.
In the shops, browsers will find home décor, useful items like handmade brooms, local and imported linens, finely crafted jewelry, and specialty foods. Wiscasset Village’s choice galleries and antique shops offer art by local, contemporary artists, and paintings that date back centuries. Also find antique oriental rugs at discount, and quirky smaller items for that special or hard-to-shop-for someone.
In the barn, Mindful Gardens’ wreaths and greens anchor the display of wares. Locally made chocolates, cookies and creamed honey (samples!) are always successful gifts and stocking stuffers. Charming tree ornaments and seasonal one-of-a-kind greeting cards, glorious baskets, colorful hand-wovens and sewn items, hand-turned bowls, and a variety of books and self-care items are a partial list of possible presents. And the barn has gifts for kitties, too.
Shoppers, with purchase receipt in hand, are invited to stop into Water St. Kitchen and Bar for a discounted Kranberry Kringle cocktail and to Back River Bistro for a discounted Mushroom Toast appetizer and Town Favorite cocktail.
For shoppers with a mission or tired feet, Woodfield Farm’s horse-drawn wagon will be circling through the Village offering free rides to one and all.
