Three things
You see why I don’t bet on … anything! Last week’s column is a case in point. I predicted right two out of four NFL games. Fifty percent, and if I bet, I probably would have come out even. So we now have Buffalo at Kansas City and Washington at Philadelphia this coming weekend. Your choice … I am not putting myself out there again. But I do hope the Bills win!
I did predict the winner of the college football championship game correctly. The Buckeyes handled the Fighting Irish.

Thank you, Garry Blackman, former burner/furnace repair man. He kept telling us to use K-1 instead of regular heating oil to avoid freeze ups. Over the past two winters, we (knock on wood) have had no freezing in the fuel lines or tank filter since we switched to K-1. Before that, we would call Garry two or three times a winter to get the furnace going again because the regular heating oil would freeze and the burner nozzle would be caked with residue. I am especially thankful this week as the arctic temperatures hit us hard!

A belated thank you to our news contributors, area and organizational columnists and others who made the newspaper’s 2024 issues interesting and enjoyable to read. Their writings and photos help fill the editorial slots in the paper (something I sometimes have to dig for this time of year).
