Y Arts awarded trophies from Junior Theater Festival West!
The Boothbay Region YMCA's Y Arts group were awarded two trophies in Sacramento at the iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival West, held over the weekend of Feb. 7-9.
Reported Y Arts director and choreographer Emily Mirabile via email, "One trophy for Excellence in Music for their adjudication piece, 'Finding Nemo JR' and one for Outstanding Performance for their showcase performance of 'Madagascar KIDS!' The group was asked to be one of four showcase groups to perform in the New Works Showcase on the main stage at the festival. They brought the house down with their exciting selections from Madagascar Kids! Other trip highlights: Spencer Pottle received a callback audition for the itheatrics DVD shoots. Trey Tibbetts and Scout Martin were picked as ALL STARS for the event and invited to join in the finale of the final performance.

Mirabile directed, music directed, and choreographed the group’s competition piece. Sarah Harris and Tibbetts were student choreographers who assisted in various steps, including designing lifts and tricks.
