Ed Pentaleri seeks return to Alna selectboard
Ed Pentaleri recently announced that he is running for a third term as a member of Alna’s selectboard. “I worked hard during my previous terms to improve how our municipal government operates, bolster our infrastructure, preserve our historic buildings, and help build community. I’m particularly proud of the nearly $1.7 million in grant funding that I helped to secure for Alna – funding that’s going to improve our roads, allow the town office to operate during power failures, and save Alna taxpayers $4,000 a year on electricity.”
Since leaving the selectboard a year ago, Pentaleri has continued to volunteer for the town, managing repairs and repainting of Alna’s 1789 meetinghouse and coordinating work funded by a Climate Action Grant to install solar arrays on the fire station. And as chair of Alna’s Road Committee, he worked closely with the Road Commissioner and other committee members to create a comprehensive Road Management Plan. “The road management plan required us to walk on foot to inspect the 14 miles of roads that Alna maintains. The details we gathered will help us restore those roads and significantly reduce road maintenance costs for Alna’s taxpayers over the long run.”
Pentaleri says that he decided to run again because important work still needs to be done. “Securing four separate grants for the bridge on Egypt Road was a lot of work, but that project isn’t finished. Now we have to coordinate multiple players and funding sources to get the bridge built as cost-effectively as possible. I hope to use my knowledge of the project details and my experience managing large projects to produce the best possible result for Alna.” And now that construction is complete on CMP’s transmission line corridor project, Pentaleri wants to make sure that CMP pays its fair share of taxes in 2025.
Alna residents will vote to fill two selectboard seats and one school board seat on Friday, March 28 at the Alna Volunteer Fire Department.
