Seacoast Community Orchestra April 15
Seacoast Community Orchestra will present a free spring concert of classical music on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. at Great Salt Bay Community School, 559 Main St., Damariscotta. Everyone is invited to hear these very talented musicians from Lincoln County and beyond. This family-friendly concert, which lasts about an hour, is free and donations are always gratefully appreciated.
Seacoast Orchestra is directed by Ferdinand Liva formerly of the DaPonte Quartet and Kaity Newell, GSB strings program director.
The concert will feature performances by the three groups of the Seacoast Orchestra, Primo, Mezza and Avanzatta - all composed of players of all ages, including many students from Great Salt Bay School and Lincoln Academy. The introductory group, Prima, is playing a lively program of spring tunes including "Star Wars" and "Swallow Tail." Mezza will perform "Rhythmic Variations" by Hanson, and "Symphony No.1" by Brahms. The Avanzatta orchestra will perform "Academic Festival Overture" by Brahms, "Concerto Grosso No. 8" by Corelli and "Danny Boy."
Did you play violin, viola or cello years ago but your instrument languishes in a closet? Come join the orchestra— there is a place for everyone. Orchestra rehearsals are held on Tuesday afternoons at GSB school and two public concerts are offered, in December and April. During the fall semester we invite symphonic players to join us.
