Boothbay Farmers’ Market begins May 15
The Boothbay Farmers’ Market starts its season on the Boothbay Town Common, 1 Common Drive, on Thursday, May 15. Vendors will set up on the common from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays through October 9.
The Boothbay Farmers’ Market is a community of 31 local farmers, fishermen and artisans. On a typical market day, local residents and visitors stroll through the market, chat with vendors, taste delicious samples of locally produced food, and support the farmers’ market community. Perennial plants, flowers, and some hand-crafted items are available in addition to various food items.
“We have 31 members this year, including five new vendors,” said Dan Sortwell of Big Barn Coffee, market president. “Our members from the Boothbay peninsula include Blue Tin Farm, a local soapmaker in Trevett; And Candy Too!; and lobster fisherman Craig Sproul of Southport Island. We are planning to have live entertainment on busy market days.”
The items available at this market include local cheeses, fresh fruits, organic vegetables, artisan candies, seedlings, handmade baskets, fresh flowers, fresh seafood, fresh eggs, local poultry, beef, rose veal, and pork, freshly roasted coffee, smoked and cured meats, honey wine, jams, pickles, Chinese treats, beeswax candles, fresh mushrooms, dog biscuits, local sheep’s wool, handmade soap, and freshly baked pastries & breads.
