Summer weekend trolley rolls out July 3
The Newcastle-Damariscotta-Boothbay Harbor Trolley begins its weekend schedule just in time for Independence Day festivities. By next Friday, July 3, new trolley stop signs will decorate the Twin Villages, and riders will find new stops in downtown Boothbay Harbor and on the Pemaquid Peninsula.
The trolley will run Friday-Saturday-Sunday from July 3 through Labor Day. On Fridays and Saturdays, the free Twin Villages route runs from 10:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., with many stops along Main Street on a regular loop between the Newcastle Train Station and Great Salt Bay School.
Also, on these days, there will be two round trips between Boothbay Harbor and the Twin Villages for a $5 fee. On Sundays, in addition to the Boothbay Harbor trips, the trolley will run a round trip (also $5) to the Pemaquid Lighthouse and Colonial Pemaquid.
Connecting bustling Main Streets and stunning sights, the trolley will link the Boothbay peninsula, Newcastle-Damariscotta, and the Pemaquid Peninsula, showing off our region at its best.
The trolley will also make it easy for train travelers coming from Brunswick and Rockland to visit longer, shop at our unique stores, enjoy all kinds of dining, and explore our walkable and fun downtowns. Maine Eastern Railroad is running its popular weekend coastal trains from late July through August and in October. The trolley will conveniently bring people from Boothbay Harbor and the Twin Villages to the Newcastle train station and back.
The Trolley & Train Committee will be distributing new brochures with maps and schedule throughout the area this week and next.
