Abbott, others eye run for Wiscasset selectman
Roland Abbott, Wiscasset Ambulance Service's director who resigned effective Sept. 14, is among residents who have already taken out nomination papers for a selectman's seat.
Abbott, former selectman Judith Colby, former Wiscasset Municipal Airport manager Ervin Deck, and fellow residents Coleen E. Kearney Graffam and David P. Flynn have taken out papers for the seat that voters will fill on Nov. 3, Town Clerk Linda Perry confirmed Sept. 4.
Deck came in third for votes for two selectmen's seats in June. The seats went to Judy Flanagan, now the board's vice chairman, and David Cherry.
Colby served four years on the board before losing a reelection bid in 2014. She finished fourth among five candidate for three seats.
Papers became available Aug. 10 are are due Sept. 21. No one who has taken out papers has returned them, Perry states in an email response to the Wiscasset Newspaper’s questions Sept. 4.
Selectman Bill Barnes' resignation Aug. 3 created the current opening on the board.
