Paul Pearce
Paul Pearce, recently of Boothbay Harbor, died October 25, 2015 in the company of his wife and two of his three daughters.
The youngest of six children, Paul was born in Boston on September 17, 1928 to George Hamilton Pearce and Marie Louise Duval. He attended Boston Latin School, earned his B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering (Edwards scholar) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was a Hughes fellow at University of California Los Angeles. His work career spanned both coasts including engineering strategic systems at Hughes Aircraft and with Lockheed Electronics Co. Moving into management, he was named VP of commercial and aerospace electronics for Tele-Dynamics, a division of AMBAC Industries, Philadelphia. After their accession by United Technologies, Paul was President of Biddle Instruments Co. He was a past president of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, served as chairman of Delaware Valley Manufacturers Association and a member of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
As a golfer, Paul enjoyed playing many courses as a member of Manufacturer’s Golf and Country Club in Oreland, Pa. where he was handicap chairman and at St. David’s Golf Club in St. David’s, Pa. Another of his great pleasures was spending summers at his home in St. Andrew’s-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick where he was a member of the Canadian Seniors Golf Association.
Paul is survived by Gilda, his wife of 62 years; three daughters, Janet Pearce Foster of East Boothbay, Theresa Pearce Scholl of Kimberton, Pa. and Diane Pearce Kew of Brunswick; and five grandchildren, Matthew Pearce Howley of New York City, Kevin Pearce Howley of Philadelphia, Melissa Pearce Howley of Los Angeles, Andrew Pearce Kew and Elaine Pearce Kew, both of Brunswick.
At 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, the family will gather at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church followed by a mass at 11 a.m. Should friends or friends desire, contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Boothbay Harbor.
