‘Charlotte’s Web’ spins out this weekend
Wilbur the Pig is “Some Pig,” and “Charlotte’s Web” is going to be “Some Show!” Nearly 30 students in grades 3-8 from nine Midcoast schools and homeschools will take the Poe Theater stage this weekend, in Heartwood Theater’s fourth annual winter middle school production. And to steal another word from Charlotte, they will most certainly be “Radiant!”
Students auditioned in December and have been rehearsing regularly since returning from break. It’s a process focused program, in which students learn not only acting skills, but a bit about costuming and stage makeup, with the help of Heidi Kopishke, and the unique challenges of running computerized light and sound boards, under the tutelage of Heartwood tech intern, Ryan Kohnert.
Three daytime performances will be filled with 450 students and teachers from eight different schools on Feb. 2 and 3. Three public performances are filling up quickly, for Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 4 at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5/students and $8/adults. Reservations strongly suggested by contacting Heartwood: 207-563-1373 / info@heartwoodtheater.org /www.heartwoodtheater.org.
