Westport Column: The Christmas season is upon us
Hello friends and neighbors!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Did you attend Westport’s celebration? Have you seen the lights at Gardens Aglow? Will you participate in Wiscasset’s festivities this weekend? Have you admired the colorful trees on Bath’s waterfront? Everywhere you go people are getting into the spirit of the season. Thanks to all the folks along the Main Road who are sharing their lights with passersby. This is the season of giving, and here’s one way you could help.
A Westport family with five children (three boys and two girls) is having some financial difficulties. The wind storm hit them particularly hard, as circumstances prevented both parents from being able to work. With the holidays fast approaching, they are concerned about what kind of Christmas they will be able to give their kids this year. If you would like to help them out, stop by the Town Office and pick up a paper mitten. The mittens list ideas of items that could help this family in need. All donations will be appreciated. See Dedee if you have questions.
Nita Greenleaf is busy in the kitchen again! If you have a special request for goodies such as pies, cakes, or cookies, give her a call at 882-7139. Nita will be selling her wares at a special Christmas Bake Sale at Ames Supply on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 21 and 22 from 9 a.m.-4 pm. Leave your baking up to Nita so you can focus on something else this holiday season. It’s a win-win situation!
