“HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON” (PG, 1h 29m) is the story of Harold (Zachary Levi) where inside his book, adventurous Harold can make anything come to life simply by drawing it. After he grows up and draws himself off the book’s pages and into the physical world, Harold finds he has a lot to learn about real life—and that his trusty purple crayon may set off more hilarious hijinks than he thought possible. When the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands, it will take all of Harold and his friends’ creativity to save both the real world and his own. This is the first film adaptation of the beloved children’s classic that has captivated young readers for decades. The Boothbay Memorial Library is featuring “HAROLD” as one of its Books on Big Screen for September.
For opening night, Friday, August 30, you can obtain two free passes (one adult and one child) and receive a free large popcorn by going online to boothbaycinema.org to reserve. The free passes are valid only on Friday, August 30, and you need to reserve online in advance. Because it is a holiday, here will also be a special 2 p.m. matinee for “Harold” on Monday, September 2 before school starts the following day!
