18th annual Art in the Square opens Saturday
Come one, come all to the opening of Boothbay Region Art Foundation’s 18th annual Art in the Square show and sale opening Saturday, Nov. 18 (Early Bird day). The gallery door opens at 9 a.m. Prepare to be amazed at the affordable art in this year’s show.
All works are on a 12” x 12” canvas in all media - oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, assemblage, fiber, glass and lead among them. All squares are $125 with $75 going to the artist. The remaining $25 is divided between BRAF’s annual Scholarship Fund awarded to two graduating seniors pursuing art studies, and the K-12 Student Art Show held in May featuring youth artists from Boothbay Region Elementary School, Boothbay Region High School, Southport Central School and Edgecomb Eddy School.
Historically, the list of artists participating is quite lengthy and usually includes Maria Doelp, Roger Milinowski, June Rose, Andre Benoit, John Butke, Virginia Forrest, Ann Hedgecock, Andrea Peters, Sarah Wilde, Sandra Chase Morrissey, Judy Nixon, John O’Hearn, Fran Scannell, Brooke Pacy, Cally Peaco, Marjorie de Garmo, Jill Butke, Daniel Corey, Marcia Brandwein, Rick Dickinson, Nancy Dirubbo, Sandra Leinonen Dunn, Sandy Eames, Andie Elwell, Irene Plummer, Sarah Wilde, and others.
The Boothbay Region Art Foundation is at 1 Townsend Ave. in downtown Boothbay Harbor. The gallery’s hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sundays.
