Additional suggestions from article
Dear Editor:
I enjoyed reading Bill Pearson’s story (Aug. 19) on the No Wake sign I've seen on Eddy Road.
A new concern may be with MDOT widening Eddy Road; you wrongly may encourage larger vehicles to use Eddy Road and that invites new concerns for trucks, trailers and RV campers to navigate this very narrow and unsafe road with its multiple narrow turning stretches? (Worse at night and if any fog issues!)
Perhaps a few more items for Edgecomb to “wake up” and consider:
* Working with the Darling Research Center and other coastal towns along the Damariscotta River to have a public boating access area (parking, facilities?) at the DRC or in Edgecomb on the Damariscotta mid river?
* Address the issue to limit or prohibit small arms being used to shoot critters (such as red squirrels ) close to occupied adjoining properties? (Not a great "wake up" call to hear gun shots very close by while in a camp or cottage you occupy or that may be occasionally rented out!)
* Work with MDOT to add lighted signage at the Route 27 at River Road intersection to indicate hospital (and arrow sign) on to River Road to hospital facilities in Damariscotta?
* Review to reduce the speed limit on sections of River Road and redesign and correct passing lineage on the road for safe passing areas -- if any!
