After Dark with Mike Leonard
After Dark is a slide lecture that covers everything you need to know about capturing images after the sun sets and before it rises. Photographer Mike Leonard is a Night Owl of sorts and he will show some images that just may compel you not to put your camera away at the end of the day.
Mike says, “There are almost endless opportunities of very unique scenes that can be captured at night – with many under just moonlight.” The Milky Way, constellations and stars can add a nice background to local scenes. With the Aurora peaking in the summer of 2025 Mike will have tips for how to predict, look for, and capture the Northern Lights right here in this area.
Anyone wanting to learn more about night photography will want to attend this session. Mike will have tips for DSLR shooters as well as for people who use cell phone cameras. The program includes an understanding of some basic photography concepts such as exposure, white balance and some notes about equipment and or apps needed to successfully capture night images.
The program will be held Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Southport Library starting at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 for early seating. All are welcomed to attend . Bring your cameras if you wish.
