Alna election results: Abbott takes another term
A light turnout of voters in Alna Friday re-elected David Abbott as first selectman and Jeff Verney as road commissioner, according to results Town Clerk Amy Warner reported in an email Friday evening.
Voters elected Warner treasurer, her first, one-year term to the post. She is leaving the clerk’s job, which officials have said will go to Lisa Arsenault.
Warner’s email reported that Abbott got 43 votes and that Warner got a write-in vote for the selectman’s seat; Warner received 45 votes for treasurer while her fiancé Toby Stockford got a write-in vote for the job.
And Verney kept the road commissioner’s post for another year, with 39 votes. Fire Chief and former road commissioner Mike Trask got three write-ins for road commissioner, and former selectman David Seigars, one vote.
Friday’s voting officially started the annual town meeting. The rest of it is Saturday, the open town meeting on the municipal budget and other items, at the fire station starting at 10 a.m.
