Alna names Elizabeth Dickerson town clerk
A former Rockland city councilor, Limestone town manager and Appleton town clerk was Alna selectmen’s pick Monday night for that town’s next town clerk. Elizabeth “Lizzie” Dickerson of Union will get $26 an hour, Deputy Town Clerk Lynette Eastman will get a $2 an hour raise to $22 an hour, and the town office may be able to be open more than the 19 hours a week the town has struggled to keep it open this year, First Selectman Ed Pentaleri said.
In the special board meeting at the town office and carried on Zoom, Pentaleri said, of the five candidates for the job, Dickerson and one other were highly qualified. The other wanted to work full-time, with benefits, he said.
Dickerson impresses as warm and compassionate, he said. He added, Alna is fortunate to get her. She has a master of business administration degree, a bachelor’s in music and an associate’s in computer science, Pentaleri said.
He said according to Town Treasurer Amy Stockford, the pay, though higher than some recent clerks’ pay, still fits this year’s total budget for clerk and deputy clerk, since town office hours have been short this year.
Lisa Arsenault’s last day in the town clerk job is Aug. 31, Pentaleri said. She has served as Alna’s clerk three times, according to Wiscasset Newspaper files.
