Anderson investigation still unresolved
New Hampshire state police investigators are still looking into allegations made against former Boothbay town manager John Anderson, who now serves as town administrator for Derry, N.H.
Acting Derry Town Administrator Larry Budreau said in a telephone call on July 23 that officials there are still waiting for the state police report.
Budreau also said the investigation was turned over to the state police not because of the nature of the allegation but because the Derry Police Chief reports to Anderson.
“The investigation was turned over to the state police for that reason and none other,” Budreau said. “It can be uncomfortable to investigate your boss.”
A call to New Hampshire State Police Captain David Parenteau has not been returned.
Reached by telephone on July 23, Jo-Anne MacKenzie, The Eagle Tribune editor, said she expected the investigation would likely conclude soon.
MacKenzie reported on July 18 that the complaint against Anderson was filed by an adult and arose out of activities at Anderson’s home on Thursday, July 11.
The allegations against Anderson were brought to the attention of the town of Derry on Friday, July 12. In a closed session that same day, the Derry Town Council decided to place Anderson on paid administrative leave and referred the matter to state police investigators.
