Another fire at Washburn & Doughty
UPDATE: Firefighters brought a thermal imaging camera to check the duct work for hot spots. No damage was done and firefighters cleared the scene around 3 p.m.
A fire broke out in the duct work on the second floor at Washburn & Doughty Shipyard around 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27.
According to emergency dispatchers, a caller on scene reported the fire appeared to be caused by the dust collection system, the same culprit as a March fire at the shipyard.
Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb and Southport fire departments have responded to the scene. The building has been evacuated.
