Another new scarecrow activity announced in Wiscasset
This year, the Wiscasset Community Center, the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce and Wiscasset Elementary School are sponsoring an exciting new addition to Wiscasset’s traditional Fall Scarecrowfest Celebration. We hope everyone will join in the fun. It’s so easy to participate.
Fifth and sixth grade student artists have created drawings featuring the scarecrow theme. These drawings will be reproduced and will be made available to the general public for coloring and embellishing. There are many options available for your choosing. You will complete the drawings by adding color any way you see fit. The products that you generate will be exhibited for all to enjoy.
Beginning on Oct. 5, you may pick up one of the black and white student drawings at Shaw’s Supermarket, Big Al’s or the community center. The picture you choose to embellish can be colored in with any material or tool you prefer using and have available (markers, colored pencil, found materials, paint, pastels, etc.). The possibilities are endless! You can work as a team with family, friends, grandchildren, siblings, or all on your own. You choose. You must return the embellished/colored works of art to Shaw’s, Big Als, or the community center by the end of the day on Oct. 15 if you would like your creation to be included in the Community Art Exhibit.
Your submissions will be prepared for hanging and exhibited at the Wiscasset municipal building, the community center, or the Morris Farm. The art exhibits will be on display, for all to enjoy, until Nov. 12. You may begin to remove your artwork from the exhibition walls beginning Nov. 10. Any artwork not removed by Nov. 12 will become the property of the Chamber of Commerce.
Let’s have some good old-fashioned fun!
