Antique sewing machines demonstrated at antique show
On Sunday, Jan. 11, Whitefield resident Sheila Knowles, a collector of antique dolls and sewing equipment, will give a demonstration of antique sewing machines at the Bath Antique Show and Sale.
Knowles has many machines in her collection and she will have several on hand at the show, including a selection of machines from the late 19th century to the 1960s, such a treadle and featherweight machines.
Also on hand will be a hand cranked machine once used to make socks for soldiers. Knowles will explain how to care for old sewing machines and will have a inventory of replacement belts on hand. She will do binding and hemming and invites patrons to come with questions or even to bring in their own machines for advice.
Now in its 26th year, the Bath Antique show takes place every four weeks during the winter months and features quality dealers from the Midcoast and beyond. An on-site café with delicious food and beverages and dedicated seating will enhance your shopping experience.
