Art and music lined up for Third Friday Series at the Chocolate Church
For years, March through September, Bath has come alive on the third Friday of the month with art galleries uniformly open to the public. Now that the weather has turned cooler, the tradition continues, but focuses on local musicians and the performing arts at the Chocolate Church Arts Center. Luckily, the November calendar aligns perfectly to combine visual and performing arts in one artful evening.
It all begins with the opening reception for the Holiday Small Wonders art exhibit at 5 p.m. on Nov. 15. A perfect combination of local creative energy will be displayed at the Arts Center with works by Howard Search, Lois Strickland, kdb, Maya Kuvaja, David Costello, Jane Page Conway and Andrea Black. This show is especially curated with the intent of showcasing art priced at or below $200 for gift giving ideas.
That same evening, the Third Friday Concert series will be held. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 show. The series benefits the Chocolate Church, and celebrates local musicians. Robby Simpson and the Thunderbirds are the November headliners with opening performances by Lisa Redfern.
Redfern is an award winning singer-songwriter who blends her roots in folk, bluegrass, country, gospel, blues and swing to create something unmistakably her own. Aaron Nadeau, who combines masterful guitar with his own blend of poetic lyrics, rounds out the series.
Tickets for the benefit concert are only $10 and available online www.chocolatechurcharts.org or by calling the box office 207-442-8455.
The Chocolate Church Arts Center is located at 804 Washington Street in Bath.
