ARTinME asks for entries
The Boothbay Region Art Foundation, sponsor of the 5th Annual ARTinME Exhibit, announces Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Maine, Orono, Kerstin Engman, as the judge for this year's show.
The ARTinME exhibit presents a fresh and selective look at the art being done by Maine artists today showing originality and skill in the painting, drawing and sculpture media. Monetary prizes, amounting to $1,500, will be awarded.
There is a limit of two entries per artist; entry fee is $15/entry for members and $20/entry for non-members.
Delivery of artwork takes place on Oct. 14, noon to 7 p.m., or on Oct.15, 9 a.m. to noon. BRAF’s gallery is located at 1 Townsend Avenue, Boothbay Harbor, diagonally across the street from the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library.
Show juror Engman received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the Maine College of Art and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
Engman’s artistic focus for 25 years was as a sculptor, but for the past decade, she has painted the Maine landscape and worked from what she defines as “the simplest forms of still life.” Her work is an expression of color and pattern that indicates one’s connection to daily routine and everyday events.
ARTinME opens with a gala reception and presentation of awards on Saturday, Oct. 18.
