Attorney General addresses Lincoln County Democrats
The Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) has announced that Maine Attorney General Janet T. Mills will address their monthly meeting on February 19. The meeting will take place at the Newcastle Community room on River Road and begin at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Mills has been Maine Attorney General since 2012 and previously was the first woman to serve in that capacity from 2008-2010. She will address some of the key legal issues facing the state, including Maine’s participation in a multi-state effort to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in “Citizens United.”
Mills, also a former member of the legislature, has a substantial record of achievement since being elected Attorney General by the legislature in December 2012 despite the gridlock which sometimes paralyzes legislative action in the face of a record number of vetoes by Gov. Paul LePage.
The meeting will also discuss preparations for the Democratic caucuses which will take place in all Lincoln County towns on March 2.
As is traditional at LCDC meetings, it is requested that attendees bring a contribution of non-perishable food to donate to a local food pantry.
